“Hand in Hand, take away the scourge of poverty.”
A group of young dreamers started their journey with the above oath, which is today known as the “Haate Haat Foundation”. It was not easy at first to start the journey with a strong desire to stand by the people. Yet the intense desire of man pushes man further forward without holding back. Starting from that self-confidence, our social activities have been conducting until now. The journey began by standing by the side of hundreds of helpless people at the shrine of Shah Amanat (R) in Chittagong.
Where hunger is the biggest challenge, Eid new clothes are the ultimate luxury. It is not unknown to underprivileged children. They do not become obsessed with new clothes due to poverty. It is like an elusive dream. To fulfill that dream, during the month of Ramadan in 2013, in the first year of their journey, the Haate Haat family gifted new clothes for Eid-ul-Fitr to 120 children in Chittagong Sadarghat slum.
Meanwhile, in the same year, a prayer and iftar mahfil were organized at Madarbari Balurmath Madrasa in Chittagong. The day organized with the students was a memorable day for the Haate Haat family. The Haate Haat family has always been inspired to do something bigger by sharing these small joys.
During Ramadan 2016, the Haate Haat family organized a prayer and iftar mahfil with students and teachers studying at the Dewanhat Madrasa in Chittagong. Besides, Punjabi was given as Eid gift to the students.
Located on Ice Factory Road in Chittagong, run by the Haate Haat family, the “Haate Haat School” was built with children from 120 poor families and provided them with school supplies and new clothes for the upcoming Eid. The day’s activities ended in a very joyous and festive atmosphere. The excitement of all the kids getting new clothes or running around hugging our volunteers – these things were very emotional and even more inspiring for us.
In 2016, Rangamati district was devastated by catastrophic rains and landslides. Thousands of families became homeless without land. Thousands of people were living a very inhuman life due to lack of food, potable water and daily necessities. The Haate Haat family immediately took the initiative to distribute helping aids with almost all of the daily necessities for more than 400 families. We are still grateful to the Deputy Commissioner of Rangamati and the Principal of Rangamati Medical College for giving us the necessary support and guidance.
In 2018, Haat Haat family distributed 5 sewing machines to 5 financially indigent families. We believe that finding a long-term way to make a family financially self-sufficient rather than providing temporary help could alleviate the misery of one’s own family, including changing one’s destiny.
