Haate Haat School

In 2013, in the slum of Sadarghat in Chittagong, “Haate Haat” organized an Eid clothes distribution program for 77 children. Honorable Madam Rekha Alam Chowdhury, Women commissioner of Chittagong City Corporation inaugurated the function as the Chief Guest. The event ended successfully with a very happy atmosphere. The joy of getting new clothes for Eid on the face of every child fades all our hard work. One thing comes to our notice very deeply through this arrangement. Deprived of various benefits, these tender children are deprived of one of the necessities of life, the minimum education. With that minimum right to education in mind, we plan to provide education for these disadvantaged children. But in the first year of the journey, due to a lack of funds and manpower, we postponed our plan to make full preparations.

In mid-2015, we started working on our plan again. We plan to build a school at the beginning to implement the plan. We have to be patient for some more time in the beginning due to a lack of space. Eventually we found the place to build our school in the slum of Railway Station Colony. There are countless children here, most of whom are deprived of the light of education. The main reason is family insecurity. With the sincere cooperation of Solaiman, the leader of the slum and the people of this area, we were able to complete our school work very well.

Finally, on November 1, 2015, our long-cherished dream, our school “Haate Haat School” officially started. Two teachers were appointed to provide regular education to 120 children of different ages. We bear the cost of all types of educational materials in these educational activities so that the children do not drop out of school for any financial reason. Besides, once a week, nutritious fruits and snacks were given to the children to make them more school-going. We also bear the overall cost.

In August 2018, as a result of the government order to relocate the slums, we have to suspend the activities of “Haate Haate School” completely.
